Reflexology

Reflexology Treatments

Reflexology is the technique of applying a gentle pressure to the reflexes on the hands and feet in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, bring about a state of deep relaxation and allow you to return to a place of clarity and equilibrium thus aiding the body to work as well as it can. These reflexes correspond to various parts, organs and glands of the body, having an effect on their function.

Reflexology is incredibly effective in stimulating neural pathways, boosting the immune system and improving the body’s circulation as the entire body is linked by capillary and nervous tissue networks. It is a touch therapy that is based on the principle theory that all the systems of the body are mapped or reflected in smaller peripheral areas, for example, on the feet, hands, ears and face. As stress deteriorates body systems, as reflexologists, we work these points and reflexes on an individual basis, facilitating your body’s own potential for healing, improved well-being and optimal health.

The right foot reflects the right side of the body and left foot represents the left side. Reflexology is based on zone therapy in which we have 5 zones on each foot. These zones are longitudinal lines of the body and lines of energy ascending from the feet to the head. As we apply pressure to the feet we are working on the basis that stimulating these lines will have a rejuvenating and healing effect on the whole of the body.

Aftercare Advice

I hope you enjoyed your treatment and feel a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

During the the treatment, toxins are released and blocked energy channels become unblocked, releasing negative, toxic energies to rebalance the body’s systems.

The effects of reflexology are unique to each person and your body’s response to treatment will be individual to you. Some people respond to reflexology quicker than others and notice an immediate improvement in their symptoms. However, most people usually notice a difference after 4 treatments.

Directly after the treatment, many reactions can be experienced including:

Symptoms feeling worse temporarily

  • Headaches/migraines

  • Tiredness/fatgue

  • Muscular aches/pains,

  • Suddenly feeling very emotional

  • Increased need for urination/bowel movements

Please do not worry, this is a very natural experience known as ‘The Healing Crisis.’ These symptoms are positive signs that your body has responded to the treatment and is beginning the healing process. Side effects should pass within 24-48 hours. If you are still concerned, please do feel free to give me a call.
