Let's Talk About Scoliosis

Updated: Mar 8, 2020

Scoliosis is the abnormal twisting and curvature of the spine and is usually first noticed by a change in appearance of the back - as you can see in this picture.

For decades, scoliosis has been treated with spinal infusions and spinal braces, however, massage therapy has gained attention in its less invasive method at reducing symptoms of this condition. Although massage cannot entirely fix the issue, it can significantly help sufferers by using its combination of strokes, sustained pressure, positioning, and stretches to help balance the muscles of the back and body.

Treatments including: Deep tissue massage work, assisted stretching, and neuromuscular therapy all help the spine relax by increasing blood flow and elongating tightened areas, which can help relieve muscular pain.
